Elio Ciol was born in Casarsa, Pordenone, where he still lives and works. He began working at a very young age in his father’s photographic lab.
Constantly seeking out new techniques and new forms of photographic expression, over the years he has developed remarkable technical expertise and his own way of viewing and expressing himself through photography.
He has staged many exhibitions both in Italy and abroad and has received a great number of awards and recognitions, the latest being the 1992 Kraszna Krausz Award for one of the best photo books. His photographs have been purchased by the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Chicago Art Institute and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, among others.
He works with several major publishing houses and his photographs have been used to illustrate over one hundred books. His books “Venezia” and “Assisi” are published by Federico Motta Editore.
